It only proves Star Wars greatness is in the individual emotional connections Lucas creates. My fav scene in all of Star Wars. I'd prefer this version because Ian McDiarmid is Emperor Palpatine all the way through. I love this scene. I like the way Vader says NO captain, they're alive! I love the way Palpatine says boy. Vader is breathing more slowly, maybe he feels more relaxed around his master. 6:52 TARGET MAXIMUM FIRE POWER! Kills one rebel. This scene is so great because it shows how both palpatine and vader are lying and trying to bullshit one another. Clearly palpatine knows luke is vader's son plus vader figures out he was lied to about his offspring dying with padme. We then see vader lying to the emperor about knowing who luke really is. Big game of cat & mouse.

 

My favorite scene in Star Wars of all time sooooooo well done. 10 Years later and this movie still stands out as the greatest. Ladroes. That end laugh by the Emperor is the best most sinister and EVIL one I have ever heard in movies or TV. “I HAVE A SON!” 😂.
